Activities
Junior Fife and Drum Camp
The Company of Fifers & Drummers offers this camp to ensure that the quality and scope of fifing and drumming continues to improve, expand, and prosper. This has been accomplished through the use of instructional workshops, which provide junior drum corps members with the tools needed to increase their knowledge in various aspects of fifing and drumming. All workshops are conducted in a friendly, open and professional manner to provide a positive experience for all. The next camp is July 17 – 20, 2012 with the performance at the Deep River Tattoo on Friday night. For more information go to www.jrfdc.org.
Jaybird Day
Jaybird Day is an annual event to honor our “old-timers.” Held at The Company headquarters and museum on the first Saturday in October, it is one of our most popular events.
The day starts with coffee and donuts as friends from all over gather to renew acquaintances. At noon the jam session starts with plenty of food and beverages available to keep everyone’s strength up.
Around 3:00 the crowd moves into The Company meeting hall where tribute is paid to this year’s Honored Jaybirds and door prizes are awarded. Then, more jamming until a buffet supper is served in the early evening.
This is a great social occasion and an opportunity to thank our old-timers for their contribution to drum corps over the years. Rembember . . . this is a day for the old timers.
Tuesday Night Concerts
Free concerts on Tuesday evenings during the months of July and August, usually featuring two corps each night. Held on the grounds at the Museum of Fife & Drum, bring your lawn chair and enjoy some great fife and drum music. See the Calendar for details.
Workshops
During the off season, The Company holds workshops to help fifers and drummers develop their skills.
National Muster
Each year, one muster is designated as the National Muster and is co-sponsored by the host corps and The Company. To apply to host the National Muster, contact the Muster Committee.
