Here are some shots from around our Museum's main exhibit room.

The Museum houses many displays documenting the development of fife and drum corps in America.

Many of the drums on display are from championship corps of this century.

Civil War exhibit -- everything is authentic to the period except one item. Can you locate it? (Note: the Civil War Artillery Musician's jacket at left was purchased by Curator Ed Olsen in 1942 for $3.50) Drums: (l.) a Maine Regiment's drum; (r.) an "Eagle" drum donated by Acton Ostling. Fifes include both Yank and Rebel. Hanging at right is a rare musician's sword.

Old Deep River exhibit -- Some years back Archivist Ed Olsen gave a slide presentation to the Deep River Historical Society. Following this, the Historical Society's curator climbed to their attic and discovered the items shown here which are currently on loan to us.

The drums at left are "Browns" made in the 1820s. The Indians were prizes awarded at the 1st New York Fifers & Drummers Association Field Day, Poughkeepsie, 1909.

Shortly thereafter The Museum acquired a bass drum played by the sponsor of said Field Day, "The 19th Separates."

The heavy woolen uniforms indicate the comfortable attire of the good old days. Inasmuch as the twin delights of these old boys was "drummin' & drunkin'" the saloon "swing" doors have been installed at the left in case they should make an unexpected visit.
