Happy summer everyone! So glad the rather cold unsettled weather we’ve been experiencing is history and it’s on to warmer sunlit days.

The Executive Committee has spent a busy winter and spring continuing to streamline the process by which The Company does business. Discovering new tools available to us and the knowledge of how to use them has been a blessing. Having tech savvy people on board has helped to move The Company into the 21st century.

The Company’s website continues to evolve with more information on membership and increased ease of becoming an individual and member corps of The Company. There are also aids for marketing your corps and to help in recruiting. From committee and event listings, to info about the museum, The Company Store, news about and for our F&D community, it is all there for you to use. Let’s not forget the Ancient Times Catalog. Talk about a trip back in time.

We have been working from the strategic plan that was developed, which takes us through the next three years. This was the result of a questionnaire that was sent out sometime ago. The insights we obtained from your pros and cons about The Company, were an immense help for us to prioritize what needs to be done. We are in the process of preparing another survey to see where we stand and if you believe we are headed in the right direction.

It’s officially muster season with the National Muster hosted by the CT Patriots looming, along with DRAM fast on its heels. Keep up to speed with all the musters by checking The Company Website.

I would like to give a shout out to Museum Building Manager Dan Riley. Due to family and work constraints, Dan had to step down from his post. He was instrumental in getting our rather beautiful new club room on its feet and firing on all cylinders. Along with several other projects that he has led, our Company Hall is a lot better off now than it was just a couple of years ago. With that, I would like to thank Dan for all his hard work and wish he and his wife Karen much success in raising their young son and making a home for their family.

One last thing. I want to invite all of you to stand up and become a volunteer in our quest to keep The Company rolling along. There is always a need for help on the standing committees listed on the website. Contact the committee chairperson and get involved. It takes a lot of people to keep an organization such as ours working for the good of its members and the community in general. There is a couple of things that you should keep in mind. “This is your Company of Fifers and Drummers and your Museum and Headquarters.” You own it, so do the right thing and volunteer. See you on the muster field.

In the Ancient Spirit,

Kevin Brown, President

The Company of Fifers & Drummers, Inc.
