October 7, 2023 marked the 47th celebration of Jaybirds Day!

Jaybird’s Day 2023 was held indoors at the Company of Fifers & Drummers HQ and Museum in Ivoryton, CT. Jaybirds Day is our annual celebration of our “Old Timers”(technically, anyone over 60 qualifies) in the Fife and Drum community. Our 2023 Honored Jaybirds are Dave Angersola, John Benoit, John Ciaglia, Skip Healy, Dave Hevrin, and Tishka Musco.

On October 7th, 85 people gathered together to celebrate our Jaybirds! The morning started with coffee and pastries, visiting with friends and touring the museum.The rain held off and a jam session started up around 11:30.

The rain held off and we were able to jam outdoors.

 

We were all having a great time jamming, but hunger called and it was time to eat.

Volunteer Jan Maffisoli CookingJan Maffisoli manned the grill, cooking up delicious hot dogs and hamburgers.

Volunteer Sarah MacConduibhIndoors, Sarah MacConduibh organized all the food.

 

After jamming and eating, we headed indoors to celebrate our 2023 Jaybirds! The event was emcee’d by Corinne Mitchell and many members of the community took turns speaking about our Honored Jaybirds.
