Carl Frederick “Rick” Corbett, IV, 65, of Romney, WV, passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Becky, by his side on December 18, 2025, after battling many chronic health issues. Rick was born at Quonset Air Base in North Kingstown, RI on March 14, 1960 to Carl F. “Fred” Corbett (dec.) and Joanne (Wilson). He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Rebecca (Matthews), daughters Jennifer Petit (Jamey) and Melissa Corbett and granddaughter Lindsey Petit (Ash). He is also survived by his mother, Joanne (Wilson) Corbett and sisters Deborah Bryan (Martin) and Kerrin Martini, and was pre-deceased by a brother, Christopher P. Corbett.
Rick was a born salesman, with stints in the automotive and advertising sales industries, among others. He loved music. At the age of 15, he joined the Kentish Guards Fife & Drum Corps in East Greenwich, RI, and was a fifer with the Corps through 2011. Rick was also a charter member of the Bluff Point Quahog Diggers Band fife & drum corps. He was a member of the Kentish Guards Rhode Island Militia, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Rick loved to hunt and fish, and deer camp in NH and RI with his dad, cousins, nephews and friends were cherished annual events. He was a life-long member of the Mt. Tom Club in Exeter, RI. Rick also appreciated Scottish culture and enjoyed attending highland games and festivals and Scottish Country Dancing with his wife and friends, attending events around the country and in Scotland (and he looked quite fine in a kilt!).
Rick and Becky moved from Rhode Island to West Virginia in 2011 to care for Becky’s father in his final years, and he loved his new adopted state. He was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Romney, serving as an Altar Server. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member, serving as the Grand Knight of the Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Council in Romney and as Treasurer for the Fourth Degree Council in Berkeley Springs. He also greatly enjoyed volunteering at the Hampshire County Animal Shelter.
Visitation will be held on December 22, 2025 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 299 School Street, Romney WV, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment at Indian Mound Cemetery in Romney immediately following. A Celebration of Life will also take place in Rhode Island at a later date.
