Joan Rochette, 85, of Old Saybrook, CT passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 23, 2021.

joan rochetteBorn on January 5, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Andrew Anderson and Agnes (Wilkinson) Anderson. Joan married the love of her life, her late husband Lawrence Rochette, in 1952 and they enjoyed 40 long years together, raising their family and enjoying each other’s company. Joan loved children and was often volunteering to babysit, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan was an EMT with Old Saybrook Ambulance for 29 years, having dedicated much of her life to helping others. She was a past board member of the Junior Colonials Fife and Drum Corp and a Life Member of the Company of Fifers and Drummers. Above all else, Joan found her joy spending time with her large family. Joan was also a cake decorator and a very talented ceramic painter. Family still cherished the many ceramic pieces that she has given away as gifts.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Robert Anderson.

Joan will be greatly missed by her children, William Rochette (wife Donna) of Old Saybrook, Judy Barrows (husband Cliff) of East Haddam, Janet Wysocki (husband Wayne) of Old Saybrook, Richard Rochette (wife Karen) of Middletown, and Patty Voghell of Georgia. Joan is survived by her grandchildren, Katie and Tommy Rochette, Jessica Salazar, Peter Barrows, Jennifer Durbin, Krystal Rohrer, Rachel Wysocki, and Brian Michael and Charlotte Voghell as well as her great grandchildren William Thomas Rochette, Brianna and Jacob Salazar, Ashlyn and Isabelle Barrows, Emily and Chloe Durbin, and Bailey Rohrer.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joan’s name to Old Saybrook Ambulance or the Company of Fifers & Drummers.
