The 50th Annual Feast of the Hunters’ Moon and the 300th Anniversary of the founding of Fort Ouiatenon was held on Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st, 2017.

Jack O'Brien

John J. (Jack) O'Brien, 89, a lifelong Hoboken, NJ, resident passed away on October 14, 2017. Jack was a retired administrator for R.C.A. Univac and General Electric for many years retiring in 1992. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy, and is survived by a daughter Maureen, two sons, James and Brian, two granddaughters, and longtime companion Barbara Dabinett.

Dave King, age 58, of Bradley,IL passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Dave, the son of Ray and Gloria (Gress) King was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL on March 1, 1959. He married Cathy Hart on November 3, 1979 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Jaybirds Day 2017

Jaybirds Day 2017 is in the books, and we are overjoyed to have the event return back to its home at the Company of Fifers & Drummers HQ and Museum in Ivoryton, CT. Jaybirds Day is our annual celebration of our “Old Timers”(technically, anyone over 60 qualifies) in the Fife and Drum community, and this year's event lived up to the buildup.

2017 Annual Meeting

The Company of Fifers & Drummers held its Annual General meeting this past Saturday on April 8th. 17 corps were represented by their delegates and 14 individual members were also in attendance.

Board of Director Elections, 2017-2019 Term

It is time again for member corps to vote Company of Fifers & Drummers Board of Directors. The Company Board of Directors is comprised of an Administrative Committee (5 officers) and an Executive Committee (10 officers). The Administrative Committee has specific responsibilities for running the Company and the Executive Committee oversees Company activities, helps carry out the mission of the Company and reports to the body of the Company (corps delegates at quarterly General Meetings).

June 18 Strategic Planning Meeting

The Company of Fifers and Drummers Executive Committee held a special meeting on Saturday, June 18 to review the results of the 2016 Membership Survey and to begin the process of developing a draft strategic plan that will act as a North Star to guide Company decision-making for the next five years. This special meeting was run as a workshop to explore new ways of looking at old problems, and to ensure that feedback from the fife and drum community was heavily weighted in that process.
